As a platinum sponsor of the just-concluded Google Developer Groups (GDG) DevFest Ibadan, Interswitch, one of Africa’s top integrated payments and digital commerce companies, has once again shown its commitment to fostering innovation and strengthening the tech ecosystem.
This collaboration demonstrates Interswitch’s steadfast dedication to developing Nigeria’s technological scene and fostering the country’s future generation of creatives. Developers, tech enthusiasts, and business executives gathered at the flagship conference, which took place at Ibadan’s Aweni Arena, for a vibrant day of networking, knowledge exchange, and investigation of cutting-edge technologies such as cloud computing, machine learning, artificial intelligence, and mobile app development.
DevFest Ibadan, which is currently in its fifth edition, has drawn thousands of visitors from all around Oyo State and beyond as its scope and influence have expanded over time. Inspiring presentations, practical workshops, and hackathons aimed at encouraging creativity and teamwork were among the many interesting events that participants took part in.
Olawale Akanbi, Divisional Head of Growth Marketing (Merchants & Ecosystems) at Interswitch, spoke about the company’s sponsorship and emphasized its commitment to boosting Africa’s tech community. He revealed: “At Interswitch, we recognise the pivotal role developers and tech communities play in driving innovation across the continent. Sponsoring GDG DevFest Ibadan 2024 aligns perfectly with our mission to equip these communities with the tools, platforms, and opportunities they need to innovate, collaborate, and succeed. We are committed to promoting a vibrant ecosystem that accelerates Africa’s digital transformation while nurturing the next wave of innovators shaping the future of fintech in Nigeria and beyond.”
Interswitch had the chance to significantly impact the Developer Community through the event. With the help of live demonstrations, Elizabeth Okaome, Developer Ecosystem Executive at Interswitch, gave a perceptive presentation on the company’s extensive array of Application Programming Interfaces (APIs) and their use cases.
Interswitch APIs give developers the tools they need to enable safe and easy online and offline payment acceptance, spanning across payment integration, transfers, bill payments and airtime recharge, identity verification, and loan services.
The launch of the Quickteller Business Referral Program also referred to as the “5 for 5” Initiative, was another event highlight. It allows developers or any referrer to earn a 5% commission on Interswitch’s portion of each transaction charge for a full five years, allowing businesses to prosper, BrandSpur technology and IT news reports.
Quickteller and the Interswitch Developer Community collaborated to host an interactive exhibit that included client testimonials, instructional product films, and one-on-one consultations. The colourful “Spin the Wheel” game and other interactive games were enjoyed by attendees, who also got branded products, adding to the lively and captivating ambience of the event.
Through this sponsorship, Interswitch reaffirms its dedication to strengthening the tech community in Africa by offering cutting-edge solutions, cultivating strategic alliances, and developing platforms that hasten economic growth and digital change. The business keeps establishing itself as a centre for developer assistance and an innovation accelerator in Nigeria.
