
The Nigerian web hosting business GO54, formerly known as WhoGoHost, has been acquired by HOSTAFRICA, a well-known web hosting provider in South Africa.
BrandSpur business and economy news reports that the operations of GO54, including its user base of over 100,000, will be transferred to HOSTAFRICA as part of the transaction.
HOSTAFRICA CEO, Michael Osterloh said in a statement on Monday that the acquisition is a calculated move to increase their influence throughout the continent. He had this to say: “This strategic acquisition strengthens our position as the leading provider of web hosting and related services in Africa.
“We are excited to leverage GO54’s strong presence in Nigeria and its innovative solutions to enhance our offerings and better serve our growing customer base,” he added.
The Founder of GO54, Opeyemi Awoyemi, resigned from the board of the company after the transaction, he penned via X: “Happy to announce that @GO54_hq (fka Whogohost) has been acquired by HOSTAFRICA. I have also resigned from the board following the sale.”
Since its founding in 2007, GO54 has developed into one of West Africa’s leading household domain and hosting companies, providing services such as cloud hosting, reseller hosting, website design, backup, and protection, as well as domain reseller application programming interface (API).
