AfriGO has announced a strategic alliance with PalmPay, and through the issuance of more than 5 million AfriGO cards to Nigerians, this partnership seeks to completely transform the payment landscape.
PalmPay and AfriGO hope to boost financial inclusion, empower marginalised people, and fortify Nigeria’s digital economy via this project. Afrigopay Financial Services Limited, a division of the Nigeria Inter-Bank Settlement System (NIBSS), powers the AfriGO Card, a domestic payment system created to strengthen financial sovereignty.
Using AfriGO’s infrastructure, PalmPay is expanding payment choices by offering solutions that are especially suited to the demands of the regional market. The 5 million AfriGO cards that PalmPay plans to issue demonstrate its commitment to closing the financial gap for Nigeria’s underbanked and unbanked communities.
BrandSpur banking and finance news desk reports that based on EMVCo standards, the AfriGO card offers contactless payment options and tokenisation to guarantee safe transactions. PalmPay offers consumers a simple and safe payment experience by integrating these elements into its strong digital ecosystem.
Chika Nwosu, Managing Director of PalmPay Nigeria, was excited about the collaboration. He said: “At PalmPay, we are committed to creating financial solutions that are not only innovative but also inclusive. Partnering with AfriGO allows us to deliver secure, cost-effective, and localized payment options that empower Nigerians and strengthen the digital economy. This is a milestone in our mission to redefine financial accessibility in Nigeria.”
Continuing in the same vein, Afrigopay Financial Services Limited (AFSL) Managing Director and CEO, Ebehijie Momoh emphasised the partnership’s wider effects, saying: “We are excited to partner with PalmPay to revolutionize financial services and expand access to digital payments across Nigeria. Through this collaboration, AfriGO and PalmPay will provide enhanced access to digital payments—particularly in underserved areas—drive financial inclusion, and support the rapidly growing digital economy in Nigeria.

“AfriGO cards will enable users to perform seamless transactions, including physical and online purchases, ATM withdrawals, money transfers, and cashless payments via Agent POS terminals. The AfriGO Instant Settlement service ensures that merchants and agents benefit from immediate transaction finalization, leading to greater efficiency, improved cash flow, and reduced risk.”
Customers will benefit from a safe, reasonably priced, and locally backed payment option that improves their everyday financial interactions, while retailers can expect lower transaction fees and faster settlement times with the AfriGO cards. By advancing this ambitious project, PalmPay and AfriGO open the door for fintech innovation and cooperation, promoting a more vibrant and inclusive financial environment in Nigeria.
However, PalmPay’s commitment to growing digital financial services and putting Nigeria at the forefront of payment innovation is demonstrated by this relationship.
