Moniepoint Honours International Women’s Day, Announces Its “Women In Tech” Expansion

Leading digital financial services firm Moniepoint Inc. has announced the growth of its “Women in Tech” initiative in honour of International Women’s Day (IWD).

In keeping with its goal of closing the gender gap in the technology industry, the program will expand its internship opportunities this year from 10 to 15. The 2025 IWD theme, “Accelerate Action,” which urges immediate action to reduce the gender gap and advance equality across industries, is in line with this declaration.

In Nigeria, where women are still under-represented despite the country’s high level of gender parity in the population, the initiative is an essential component of Moniepoint’s continuous efforts to advance women in the technology sector.

To achieve gender equality, it is critical to act quickly and decisively, which is why it is important to focus on the need to accelerate action. To confront the structural prejudices and obstacles that women encounter in both the personal and professional domains, it urges greater vigour and urgency. Although women continue to have a relatively small part in the technology sector, it is crucial for fostering innovation and progress.

Despite making up nearly half of Nigeria’s population, women only make up 25% of the tech workforce, according to recent numbers from the Nigerian Bureau of Statistics (NBS). This is although they account for 22% of STEM graduates each year. These discrepancies underscore the necessity of more targeted initiatives to promote gender inclusion and boost female participation in the tech sector.

By giving young women practical experience, mentorship, and the chance to engage in real initiatives that will influence the direction of digital banking in Africa, the Women in Tech program seeks to close these disparities. The number of positions open to participants will increase as Moniepoint’s internship program grows to include 15 women for this year’s event.

BrandSpur technology and information news reports that approved candidates will have the opportunity to join a variety of teams, such as Technical Product Management, Data Engineering, Cloud Engineering, Backend Engineering, Systems Administration, Technical Support, and User Experience.

For Women in Technology by Moniepoint, during their six-month internship, these women—known as the “Dream 15″—will get a wage, work tools, branded apparel, direct mentoring, and the chance to be selected for full-time employment depending on their performance.

Moniepoint’s commitment to providing young women with the resources they need to thrive in the technology industry—where they remain under-represented despite playing a crucial role in its advancement—is demonstrated by this expanded initiative.

Moniepoint Inc.’s vice president of people operations, Chinaza Nduka-Dike, expressed her excitement about the program’s growth, pointing out: “With the Women in Tech initiative, we are not just inspiring inclusion – we are actively creating sustainable pathways for women to thrive in the tech industry. This is a space where diversity fuels innovation, and through programs like this, we are empowering women to take on leadership roles, develop crucial skills, and shape the future of technology.

“The progress we’ve seen in past editions, where alumni have gone on to make significant contributions to the company and the wider tech ecosystem, fills us with pride, and we look forward to nurturing even more female talent in the years ahead. This initiative has been instrumental in our mission to power the dreams of millions while transforming the careers of talented women for the past four years.”

According to Systems Administrator, Daniela Uzosike, who is a part of Moniepoint’s Women in Tech program’s third cohort, and expressed her enthusiasm for the increased prospects for this year’s intake: “The opportunity to work with Moniepoint not only transformed my career but also allowed me to be part of a program that truly values the potential of women in technology. I’m thrilled to see the increase in roles this year, and I’m excited to see more women take part in this initiative, gain the experience they need, and shape the future of tech in Africa.”

However, for both individual participants and the larger tech community, the Women in Tech initiative has continuously shown itself to be a transformative force. To close the gender gap in technology and guarantee that women play a key role in the industry’s development and future, Moniepoint is establishing a platform for women to acquire resources, receive mentorship, and develop their skills.

Women from all over Africa who want to pursue a career in technology are eligible to apply for the internship. Through the Women in Tech website, interested candidates can learn more about open positions and submit an application for the program.
