With 49 votes, Morocco’s Fouzi Lekjaa won the election, followed by Egypt’s Hani Rida and Niger’s Djibrilla Hamidou, who each received 35 votes. Pinnick, who had hoped to prolong his term on FIFA’s highest decision-making council since 2021, is disappointed by the verdict.

However, with 30 votes, Comoros native Kanizat Ibrahim won the seat in the women’s division, surpassing Lydia Nsekera (13 votes) and Isha Johansen (7 votes).
