Meta, a tech giant and the owner of popular social networking platforms is collaborating with MTN Group, a telecommunications company, to improve the quality and dependability of audio and video chats on the real-time WhatsApp app.
MTN claims to BrandSpur telecom and IT news desk that the partnership, which covers all 12 of its markets, intends to improve user experience by achieving smarter, more effective network performance. The initiative’s main goal is to improve the interaction between real-time calling apps and mobile networks so that calls are more reliable and of higher quality.
Using data analytics and thorough testing, MTN and Meta’s engineers have collaborated since 2024 to find performance gaps and implement focused network upgrades.
However, the first nation to implement these improvements is Nigeria, and preliminary findings indicate a 50% improvement in key performance metrics, indicating a significant improvement in the user experience for MTN Nigeria consumers.
MTN Nigeria’s CTO, Yahaya Ibrahim, had this to say: “This rollout underscores our commitment to delivering innovative digital experiences. We’re excited about the improvements our users are already seeing in call quality.”
Diego Marí, Head of Network Ecosystems Engineering at Meta, further said: “This partnership demonstrates how we can deliver superior real-time communication while continuing to optimize network efficiency.”
