
As the sports competition comes to an end at Moshood Abiola Stadium on Thursday, Team Delta has emerged victorious in the 22nd National Sports Festival (NSF).
After earning 122 gold, 95 silver, and 105 bronze, Team Delta took first place in the medal table. Team Bayelsa, on the other hand, finished second with 90 gold, 61 silver, and 70 bronze. With 89 gold, 44 silver, and 77 bronze medals, Team Ogun came in a far third third. Team Rivers finished fourth with 74 gold, 56 silver, and 61 bronze medals, while Edo finished fifth with 63 gold, 95 silver, and 113 bronze.
Team Delta’s ninth NSF victory and the state’s fifth straight win come from the Abeokuta victory. Over 10,000 participants from Abeokuta competed in 30 sports during the 11-day sporting festival.
BrandSpur sport and entertainment news desk report that in front of a crowded stadium, Ogun defeated Kwara in the men’s football final to win the gold medal, while Davido’s spectacular performance during the opening ceremony left fans with fond memories of the games. But there were also a few sad events, including competitors being disqualified for doping, a tanker explosion at the location of the game, and Ogun sportsmen protesting underpaid allowances.
