Today where the advent of new media has fast changing the world, everyone wants to avoid the stress of rushing down to a market to purchase goods and staples, thereby empowering online scammers.

This piece will expose you to how you can retrieve your money from these fraudsters.

You tried to buy something and were blocked? Ghosted? Or are goods not delivered, and the seller is untraceable without a refund? Come around and see how to recover your money. You do so through your back without going to court.

1. You need to act with immediacy
2. After realising you’ve been scammed, call your customer care, use their App, email or walk into a branch to lay complaints.
3. Provide the Scammers account number, name and bank.
4. Explain how you were defrauded, the purpose of the payment (bag, hair, shoes, etc), and share the transaction ID.
5. Include any evidence: chat, receipt, or screenshot for proof of payment.
6. Ask them to log fraud complaints and post a no debit on the account with PND.

7. Send a complaint as a short email to the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), through mail to either of these: cpd@cbn.gov.ng or contactcbn@cbn.gov.ng
8. Describe the incident and add you’ve reported to the bank with the same evidence (this puts pressure on your bank to act)
9. Wait for a feedback from your bank.

It is expedient to know at this point that within 2-10 working days, the receiving bank the scammer uses will respond. If the money hasn’t been withdrawn, it can be reversed straight to you after investigation, but it doesn’t go to court.
