Heineken has inaugurated the Dr. H.P. Heineken Centre, a state-of-the-art global research and development (R&D) facility located in Zoeterwoude, Netherlands. The opening ceremony was officiated by His Majesty King Willem-Alexander, marking a pivotal moment in the company’s commitment to innovation and sustainability in brewing.

The €45 million investment in the 8,800 m² facility underscores Heineken’s ambition to enhance its position as a leader in the brewing and brewing technology sector. This new R&D hub will focus on advancing brewing techniques, developing new products and addressing evolving consumer preferences, particularly in the realms of flavour and sustainability.

Heineken’s CEO Dolf van den Brink highlighted the importance of innovation in the company’s history: “From the creation of our signature A-yeast in the 19th century, to the development of Heineken® 0.0, we boldly explore new ideas to create legendary drinks, brands and experiences to delight consumers and stay ahead”. He noted that the centre will play a crucial role in the company’s ‘EverGreen Strategy,’ aimed at developing distinctive beverages while minimising environmental impact.
