In Anambra State, armed men allegedly belonging to the Agunechemba Vigilante Group, also known as Operation Udo Ga-Achi, stormed a Corpers’ lodge and attacked a female Corps member named Jennifer Edema Elohor, who hails from the Urhobo clan of Delta State, and a few of her colleagues.

The incident was captured on camera and went viral yesterday, Monday, 18th August 2025. Men brandishing guns were seen beating and stripping Elohor naked in the video, which the Haven 360 Foundation posted on Facebook on Monday.

The foundation claimed that the victims endured sexually degrading and humiliating threats in addition to being brutalized. It stated that even after the corps members produced their National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) identity cards, the vigilante continued to attack them, accusing them of being fraudsters (a.k.a yahoo people). The video reveals these men hitting her on sensitive parts of her body after the maltreatment.

According to the foundation: “We strongly condemn the brutal assault and violation of the rights of National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members by operatives of Operation Udo Ga-Achi or ‘Agunechemba Vigilante Group’ in Anambra State.

“On July 23, 2025, these state actors stormed the Corpers lodge, accusing the members of being ‘Yahoo people’, despite their prompt production of NYSC identification cards and uniforms. The assault was particularly egregious in the case of Jennifer Edema Elohor, who was beaten, stripped naked, and left exposed and covered in blood.

“The victims were subjected to unsavoury, horrible, sexually degrading words and actions, including threats of sexual violation,” the statement added.

According to a Comrade of the Urhobo community, Comr. Efe Kevin Eyela who took to his Facebook page today: “As an advocate of Urhobo advancement, I hereby strongly condemn this barbaric, inhumane, and degrading treatment meted out to Miss Jennifer Edema Elohor, a serving National Youth Service Corps – (NYSC) member in Anambra State, who was violently beaten, stripped naked, and left bloodied by members of the Agunechemba Vigilante Group.”

Continuing, he expressed his displeasure at seeing the viral video of an Urhobo child trending over abuse by some armed men. He said: “This is a clear case of an ugly event, where jungle justice is carried out against the weak while the powerful political elites, who plunder the nation’s wealth daily, are shielded from accountability.”

He implored other leaders to look into this act and seek the intervention of the Delta State Government.

Comr. Eyela had this to say: “I am using this medium to call on the Urhobo Progress Union – UPU, particularly the Upu Ighele, to speak up, mobilise and demand justice for this innocent Urhobo girl. Also, I am calling on the Governor of Delta State, Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori and the Delta State Government to urgently intervene to seek justice for this Deltan whose fundamental rights have been violated.

“Finally, I would love to remind the National Youth Service Corps – NYSC board, that the phase ‘Corps Members are government property’ shouldn’t be realistic only on papers and blogs, but you should be made practical in this case because the Government hardly fights Government.

“Urhobo, please rise up and speak against this Injustice done against our beloved daughter serving the nation in Anambra State as part of her Compulsory one-year NYSC service,” he added. “Wado.”

Other well-meaning Nigerians across the globe, Deltans and children of the Urho community have kicked against this act and demand that the perpetrators be brought to book by the Anambra State Government.

Though the Anambra State Government has come out today, 19th August, 2025, to condemn the act, and declared the culprits apprehended, Nigerians demand physical evidence.
