Mouka, Nigeria’s foremost bedding and sleep solutions brand, has ushered in 2026 with its annual tradition of celebrating families welcoming babies on New Year’s Day, reinforcing its long-standing commitment to supporting healthy sleep from birth.
The initiative, which took place across public hospitals in 15 states including Lagos, Oyo, Imo, Rivers, Abia, Enugu, Akwa Ibom, Edo, Gombe, Kano and Plateau, saw the brand honour 71 newborns delivered in the early hours of January 1.
Families received specially curated gift packs featuring Mouka Dreamtime Baby Mattresses, pillows, toys and baby skincare items designed to support infant comfort and development.
In Lagos, Mouka partnered with the First Lady of Lagos State, Dr (Mrs) Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu, visiting General Hospital Gbagada, General Hospital Ibeju-Lekki and General Hospital Imota. The visits celebrated mothers who delivered the first babies of the year, with the families receiving gifts and recognition in a warm, festive atmosphere.
The first baby of 2026 in Lagos was a baby girl born to Mr and Mrs Daramola at exactly midnight at General Hospital Gbagada, while a baby boy was delivered at the same time to Mr and Mrs Mayowa at General Hospital Ibeju-Lekki.
Speaking on the initiative, Mouka’s Managing Director, Femi Fapohunda, said the brand remains passionate about nurturing healthy sleep habits from infancy. According to him, the Dreamtime Baby Mattress is designed to support physical growth and cognitive development, while its breathable and water-resistant features ensure a safe and comfortable sleeping environment for babies.
Beyond Lagos, the celebration continued nationwide. In Niger State, the first baby of the year was born at General Hospital Minna at 1:42 a.m., followed by another delivery minutes later. Mouka teams visited hospitals in multiple states, extending goodwill and gifts to families as part of the brand’s commitment to social impact and community connection.
Brandspur reports that Mouka’s New Year Babies initiative reflects a growing trend among leading Nigerian brands to combine emotional storytelling with meaningful community engagement, helping to deepen trust and brand loyalty. The platform highlights the campaign as a strong example of how brands can align corporate responsibility with authentic consumer connection.
Grateful parents across the hospitals expressed appreciation for the gesture, describing it as thoughtful and reassuring during an important moment in their lives. The initiative further strengthens Mouka’s reputation as a brand that goes beyond products to touch lives.
With over six decades of presence in Nigeria, Mouka has built a strong portfolio of sleep solutions, including Royal Luxury Pillow Top Mattresses, Wellbeing Orthopaedic Mattresses, Mondeo Firm Spring Mattresses and premium pillows, all designed to improve sleep quality for Nigerians.
As the brand continues its journey into 2026, Mouka says it remains committed to supporting families, promoting healthy sleep, and sustaining initiatives that contribute positively to communities across the country.
