Leadway Assurance has launched a verification exercise for all annuitants under the African Alliance Insurance portfolio, following its recent takeover of the company’s annuity operations. The move is aimed at confirming the identities of retirees and updating records to guarantee timely and accurate payments.

The exercise marks the first stage of integrating African Alliance’s annuitants into Leadway’s systems. The initiative comes after the National Insurance Commission (NAICOM) intervened to address outstanding payments and appointed an interim management team to oversee the transition.

Leadway Assurance said the process is designed to protect retirees’ interests and ensure continuity of their benefits without interruption. All annuitants are encouraged to validate their information through the company’s offices, email, or customer support lines to facilitate a smooth transition.

Olufunmilayo Amanwa, Executive Director of Technical & Operations at Leadway Assurance, emphasised the importance of the verification. “This exercise is a demonstration of our commitment to retirees. We are focused on ensuring that every annuitant receives their entitlements promptly and with dignity,” she stated.

Brandspur reports that the verification also reflects broader efforts to strengthen Nigeria’s insurance sector and rebuild confidence among policyholders. By bringing the African Alliance annuitants under its administration, Leadway Assurance aims to maintain trust and provide financial security for thousands of retirees.

Leadway Assurance is recognised as one of Nigeria’s top insurance firms, offering a wide range of financial products including life and general insurance, as well as annuity and retirement solutions. The company’s takeover of the African Alliance annuity portfolio is seen as a strategic step toward expanding its footprint in the pension and retirement sector.
