Eko Electricity Distribution Plc (Eko Disco) has appointed Wola Joseph-Condotti as its Interim Chief Executive Officer, effective January 13, 2026, in a strategic move aimed at strengthening leadership as Nigeria’s power sector grapples with operational, regulatory and sustainability challenges.
The appointment places an experienced corporate lawyer and energy executive at the helm of one of Nigeria’s most critical electricity distribution companies, serving Lagos’ major commercial and residential corridors.
Joseph-Condotti currently serves as Group Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of West Power & Gas Limited, the parent company of Eko Disco. Her elevation is expected to ensure leadership continuity and institutional stability at a time when distribution companies are under increasing pressure to improve supply reliability, customer service delivery and regulatory compliance.
Brandspur Energy Desk understands that the new interim CEO brings extensive institutional knowledge, having played a key role in Eko Disco’s post-privatisation transition and corporate restructuring. She previously served as the company’s pioneer Chief Legal and Company Secretary, positioning her at the centre of governance, compliance and operational reforms during the utility’s early years.
Beyond legal leadership, Joseph-Condotti has held several senior management positions within the organisation, including Head of Regulatory Compliance, Chief Human Resources and Administration Officer, Supervising Head of Customer Service, and Data Protection Officer. Her broad portfolio has given her direct exposure to workforce management, customer relations and regulatory engagement.
Industry analysts say her multi-dimensional experience will be critical as Eko Disco navigates ongoing challenges around power supply consistency, tariff regulation, metering gaps and customer trust.
Outside Eko Disco, Joseph-Condotti is widely regarded as a leading voice in Nigeria’s energy transition conversation. Under her leadership, West Power & Gas has expanded into both conventional and renewable energy assets, with growing involvement in sustainability initiatives, carbon markets and carbon credit development.
She has consistently advocated for a balanced approach that improves immediate power reliability while preparing Nigeria’s electricity sector for long-term clean energy transformation.
Her academic and professional credentials span law, finance and executive leadership. She holds a law degree from the University of Ibadan, a master’s degree in international finance law from Harvard Law School, and an MBA from INSEAD Business School. She is also a certified board evaluation professional with the International Finance Corporation (IFC) of the World Bank Group and a recognised corporate governance trainer.
Joseph-Condotti previously worked as General Counsel and Company Secretary at Lagoon Home Savings and Loans and as a legal associate at Banwo & Ighodalo, one of Nigeria’s leading commercial law firms.
Her leadership impact has attracted continental recognition. She was listed among the Legal 500 GC Powerlist Top 100 General Counsels in Nigeria in 2024 and 2025, named INSEADer of the Month in April 2024, and featured in the Ascent Top 100 Career Women in Africa 2025 rankings. She also recently emerged as the inaugural recipient of the Legal Era Leadership Excellence Award of the Year 2025.
In addition, she serves on multiple boards and advisory platforms, including as a founding member of the Women in Energy Network and a member of the Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry Public Affairs and Advocacy Committee.
Her appointment comes as the Nigerian electricity distribution segment faces renewed scrutiny from regulators, customers and investors over service delivery, revenue performance and infrastructure investment. Stakeholders will be watching closely to see how her interim leadership shapes Eko Disco’s operational direction in the months ahead.
