Dangote Cement Plc has expanded its workforce with the absorption of nearly 200 young professionals following the successful completion of its 18-month Graduate Trainee Programme, reinforcing the company’s long-term investment in skills development and local capacity building.
The newly inducted employees, drawn from engineering, finance, information technology and related disciplines, were formally onboarded into the company’s operations after undergoing intensive classroom instruction and hands-on industrial training.
Participants in the programme were trained at the Dangote Academy and deployed across the company’s cement plants, operational sites and corporate headquarters, where they gained practical exposure to large-scale manufacturing processes and real-world industrial challenges.
Brandspur Brand News reports that the trainees were rotated across Dangote Cement’s production locations nationwide, working directly with experienced engineers and managers while contributing to live operational projects within the company’s cement value chain.
According to the company, several of the graduates have already been assigned to critical roles within Dangote Cement’s Nigerian operations as well as select facilities in other African countries where the group operates.
Four engineers emerged as standout performers during the programme and were formally recognised during the induction ceremony. They include Mary Nnana, Ahmad Sunusi Abdullahi, Ahmed Rufai Ahmed and Ebenezer Afonja.
The award-winning engineers were credited with playing key roles in the installation and commissioning of Management Information System servers at the Obajana Plant, alongside supporting the optimisation of cement milling systems at both the Obajana and Okpella facilities.
Programme Coordinator, Iyal H. Abdulkareem, said the award recipients demonstrated strong industrial competence throughout the training cycle, noting their involvement in improving plant reporting systems, customer administration processes, equipment alignment, dynamic balancing of preheater fans, and the development of performance tracking templates.
Speaking on the initiative, Acting Group Human Resources Officer, Ahmed Ladan Gobir, described the Graduate Trainee Programme as a deliberate strategy to prepare young Nigerian professionals for future leadership roles within the industrial sector.
He said the company remains committed to equipping graduates with the technical skills, exposure and mentorship required to build sustainable careers while contributing to national industrial growth.
Chief Executive Officer of Dangote Cement, Arvind Pathak, said the induction marked both the conclusion of the trainees’ development phase and the beginning of their professional careers within the organisation, adding that the programme reflects the company’s commitment to nurturing talent for Africa’s industrial future.
The Dangote Cement Graduate Trainee Programme is a structured development pipeline designed to groom high-potential graduates through cross-functional exposure, executive mentorship, classroom learning and project-based execution, positioning them for long-term growth within the company.
