Nigeria’s advertising and marketing communications industry marked a significant milestone as the Advertising Regulatory Council of Nigeria (ARCON) formally inducted a new group of fellows in Abuja on Wednesday, February 18, 2026. Leading the prestigious cohort were Charles Ebuebu, Director-General of the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC); Tunde Rahman, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Public Affairs; and Mallam Ali Muhammad Ali, Managing Director of the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).

Brandspur Brand News reports that the induction ceremony underscores ARCON’s ongoing commitment to professionalising Nigeria’s advertising sector and ensuring that qualified, ethical practitioners guide the growth and development of marketing communications in the country.

Speaking at the event, ARCON Director-General, Dr. Olalekan Fadolapo, reiterated the council’s dedication to maintaining rigorous professional standards. “We are committed to sanitising the advertising space and ensuring that only qualified practitioners are allowed to practice in Nigeria,” Dr. Fadolapo stated, highlighting the council’s role in protecting the public from misinformation and harmful content.

ARCON’s fellowship programme forms part of its broader mandate under the Advertising Regulatory Council of Nigeria Act 2022 to regulate advertising comprehensively, ensuring that the nation’s advertising ecosystem remains ethical, vibrant, and competitive on a global scale.

The induction signals ARCON’s continued efforts to drive transparency, professional excellence, and industry growth, reinforcing the critical role of regulatory oversight in shaping Nigeria’s advertising and marketing communications landscape.
