Lagos State To Commission Three New LASCOPA Annex Offices In March To Boost Consumer Protection

The Lagos State Government has announced plans to commission three new annex offices of the Lagos State Consumer Protection Agency (LASCOPA) in March 2026, aiming to strengthen consumer protection and improve access to services across the state.

The General Manager of LASCOPA, Mr. Afolabi Solebo, revealed the expansion plans during the agency’s management retreat in Ikeja, noting that the new offices reflect the state’s commitment to reinforcing institutional capacity at the grassroots level and ensuring timely resolution of consumer complaints.

Brandspur Brand News reports that the annex offices will be located in Epe Local Government Area, Ojo Local Government Area, and Isolo Local Council Development Area. Their commissioning will coincide with activities marking the 2026 World Consumer Rights Day, featuring public enlightenment and sensitisation programmes to raise awareness of consumer rights and responsibilities.

Solebo highlighted that the additional offices will enhance response times, improve accessibility, and position LASCOPA as a more community-focused and responsive institution. “The opening of these offices will bring our services closer to the people and strengthen our statutory mandate to safeguard consumer rights across Lagos,” he said.

The LASCOPA chief also urged residents to report unfair or substandard business practices, including the sale of fake, expired, or substandard products, and advised consumers to always demand receipts or properly signed agreements for all transactions as proof of service or purchase.

Solebo extended appreciation to the executive chairmen of the benefiting councils for providing office accommodation and encouraged other local council leaders to support LASCOPA by providing spaces, emphasising that such collaboration is key to curbing unfair trade practices across Lagos State.

The agency remains committed to proactive consumer advocacy, fair trade promotion, and continuous improvement of service delivery, reinforcing Lagos State’s position as a leading model for consumer protection in Nigeria.
