Nigerian international footballer Alex Iwobi has reportedly been the victim of a violent home invasion in England, with armed burglars making away with valuables estimated at £500,000.
The incident is said to have occurred at the midfielder’s residence, where the attackers allegedly gained entry unnoticed before confronting the player inside his home. Reports indicate that the assailants held Iwobi at knifepoint while carrying out the robbery.
Brandspur Brand News understands that the attackers ransacked the property, stealing luxury wristwatches, high-end jewellery, two iPhones, a MacBook laptop and a large sum of cash believed to be around £200,000. The combined value of the stolen items is estimated at approximately £500,000.
Sources familiar with the incident say the burglars escaped before security operatives arrived at the scene. British authorities have since opened an investigation, with forensic checks and neighbourhood inquiries already underway. There were no reports of physical injuries to Iwobi or members of his household.
The 27-year-old is currently a key member of Fulham, where he has enjoyed a strong season in the English Premier League. He has featured regularly for the London club, contributing goals and assists as Fulham continue their push for a possible European spot.
Iwobi, a regular for the Nigeria Super Eagles, recently made history as Nigeria’s most-capped player in the Premier League era, further cementing his status as one of the country’s most consistent exports in European football.
The robbery has renewed concerns over the rising number of high-profile burglaries targeting professional footballers in the United Kingdom, many of whom have fallen victim to organised criminal gangs in recent years.
Police investigations are ongoing, and no arrests have been announced as of the time of filing this report.
