Roadblock Party Partners Desperados To Expand Afro EDM Influence From Lagos To Global Dance Scene

Roadblock Party, one of Nigeria’s leading electronic music experiences, is set to return with a new edition themed “Beyond,” reinforcing its ambition to position Afrocentric electronic dance music (Afro EDM) on the global cultural map. The event, scheduled for April 5 in Lagos, is being staged in collaboration with Desperados Beer.

Organisers say the party has evolved from a nightlife gathering into a youth-driven cultural platform that blends music, fashion, and digital creativity, attracting thousands of Gen Z attendees and amplifying Lagos’ reputation as a hub for contemporary African entertainment.

Brandspur Entertainment News Desk reports that the upcoming edition will introduce a dual-stage format designed to create a fully immersive experience. The Main Stage will host headline DJs delivering high-energy sets, while a second stage will spotlight emerging talent and interactive cultural showcases, giving audiences a broader sonic and visual experience within a single event space.

The Roadblock concept, according to its organisers, aims to reshape nightlife by offering curated experiences that prioritise creativity, community, and African musical identity. The initiative also serves as a discovery platform for rising DJs through its Next Rated DJ Challenge, which provides visibility and career opportunities for new entrants into the electronic music scene.

This year’s lineup features several prominent DJs from across Africa, including Wanni x Handi, Dope Caesar, DJ Xclusive, DJ Big N, DJ Flo, DJ Chelar, and DJ Medobee, with additional performers expected to be announced ahead of the event. The organisers say the curated mix of established and emerging acts is designed to highlight the diversity and evolution of Afro EDM.

Beyond music, the event will feature large-scale visual production, interactive fashion elements, and audience engagement concepts aimed at generating shareable moments across social media platforms. Industry watchers note that such experiential formats are increasingly central to youth entertainment and brand partnerships in Nigeria’s nightlife economy.

By combining live music, immersive staging, and brand collaboration, Roadblock Party continues to position itself as a cultural export platform for Afro EDM, while strengthening Lagos’ standing as a gateway for African youth culture to reach international audiences.
