Moniepoint Inc., a leading digital financial services provider in Africa, has launched the sixth edition of its Women in Tech internship programme, opening applications for 2026 under a renewed push to expand opportunities for women in Nigeria’s technology sector.
The programme, themed “There Is Space For You,” is designed to encourage more women with technical potential to pursue careers in technology, particularly those who may have faced barriers to entry despite possessing the required skills and ambition.
According to the company, the initiative continues to address the gender gap in Nigeria’s tech workforce, where women currently represent a significantly smaller proportion despite making up nearly half of the population and a notable share of STEM graduates.
Brandspur Brand News reports that this year’s edition builds on the success of previous cohorts, including the “Dream 15” intake from the 2025 programme, and will offer expanded opportunities across multiple technical disciplines within the organisation.
The internship roles span key areas such as Cloud Engineering, Frontend and Backend Engineering, Data Engineering, Systems Administration, Product Management, Information Security, Mobile Engineering and Site Reliability Engineering, reflecting the company’s focus on strengthening the talent pipeline for digital financial services.
Successful applicants will receive structured training, competitive remuneration, work tools, branded materials and access to mentorship from experienced professionals across Moniepoint’s operations, with the programme designed to provide both practical experience and professional development.
The company noted that participants who demonstrate strong performance during the internship may be offered full-time employment, continuing a pathway that has already transitioned several alumni into permanent roles within the organisation.
Moniepoint highlighted the impact of previous cohorts, noting that out of thousands of applicants received in earlier editions, selected interns have gone on to become full-time employees contributing to product development, engineering systems and operational projects within the company.
Alumni of the programme, including former interns who have transitioned into full-time roles, have described the experience as hands-on and responsibility-driven, with early exposure to real-world projects and decision-making responsibilities that shaped their professional growth.
The company’s People Operations leadership emphasised that the Women in Tech initiative is aimed at creating sustainable access to career opportunities in technology while fostering an inclusive environment where women can develop skills, gain experience and advance into leadership roles.
Moniepoint also stated that the programme aligns with broader global goals on gender equality, including the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 5, as part of its long-term commitment to promoting diversity, inclusion and economic empowerment.
Applications for the 2026 Women in Tech internship opened on March 30, 2026, and are available to women across Nigeria, whether self-taught or formally trained, who are seeking to begin or transition into technology careers.
Interested candidates can apply through the official Women in Tech portal as the company continues its efforts to bridge the gender gap and strengthen representation of women in Nigeria’s growing technology ecosystem.
