Prosus Reports First Profitable E-Commerce Ecosystem As EBITDA Jumps 84% In Latest 2026 Results

Prosus has announced that all of its operating ecosystems are now profitable for the first time, marking a major milestone for the global technology investor as its long-term e-commerce strategy begins to deliver stronger financial returns.

The company disclosed in its latest financial results that ecosystem adjusted earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) rose by 84% to $1.3 billion. The performance signals a significant turnaround for Prosus, whose e-commerce businesses had previously weighed on profitability despite the group’s valuable investment in Chinese technology company Tencent.

For years, Tencent accounted for much of Prosus’ market value while the company’s expanding portfolio of online businesses continued to absorb substantial investment. Brandspur Brand News reports that the latest earnings suggest those investments are now generating sustainable returns, with the broader e-commerce ecosystem contributing positively to the group’s financial performance.

Prosus, which has deep South African roots and invests in digital platforms across multiple international markets, has spent years expanding its presence in sectors including online marketplaces, food delivery, fintech and education technology. The latest results indicate that the company’s strategy of building and scaling digital businesses is beginning to pay off.

The improved financial performance is expected to strengthen investor confidence as Prosus continues to diversify beyond its Tencent stake. Achieving profitability across all operating ecosystems also positions the technology investor for greater financial flexibility as it pursues further expansion and investment opportunities in global digital markets.
