MultiChoice has introduced two new Novelas+ channels on its DStv and GOtv platforms in Nigeria, giving subscribers access to a broader selection of international telenovelas from Latin America, Turkey, Portugal and the United States.
The new English and Portuguese-language channels became available from July 1 as part of the company’s effort to expand entertainment offerings and meet increasing demand for international drama series across its pay television platforms. The rollout follows the rebranding of Novelas TV to Novelas+, a channel that has established a strong audience across French-speaking African markets.
According to Brandspur Brand News, the latest addition strengthens MultiChoice’s content portfolio by offering viewers a dedicated destination for globally recognised telenovelas featuring romance, family conflict, suspense and emotional storytelling.
Subscribers on DStv and GOtv will be able to watch four drama series each weekday, with fresh episodes released daily from Monday through Friday. The programming has been curated to include productions from multiple international markets while offering local audiences a wider variety of premium entertainment.
MultiChoice said the expansion reflects the growing popularity of telenovelas among Nigerian viewers and forms part of its strategy to deliver more compelling international content tailored to audience preferences.
Among the titles available on the English-language Novelas+ channel is the acclaimed Brazilian drama Avenida Brasil. Other productions include the Turkish romantic comedy Be My Sunshine, the 2025 adaptation of the Mexican classic Doménica Montero, and the Turkish drama Sin and Roses, each featuring internationally recognised casts and storylines centred on love, betrayal, ambition and family conflict.
The launch comes as MultiChoice continues to refresh its content offering across DStv and GOtv following recent adjustments to its channel lineup. The company says the new Novelas+ channels are intended to broaden viewing options and provide subscribers with greater access to premium international storytelling across multiple languages and genres.
