Bitget Wallet has surpassed 100 million users globally, marking a major milestone as everyday payment activity on the platform overtakes cryptocurrency trading for the first time, with Nigeria playing a significant role in the shift toward digital finance.
The self-custodial crypto wallet said growing adoption across emerging markets is being driven by users relying on stablecoins for cross-border payments, savings and everyday transactions rather than speculative trading. More than half of its global user base is now located in Southeast Asia, South Asia, Africa and Latin America.
Nigeria has emerged as one of the platform’s most important growth markets amid rising demand for digital payment solutions. Brandspur Banking News Desk reports that the trend reflects broader changes in the country’s financial ecosystem, where individuals and small businesses are increasingly using stablecoins to facilitate remittances and protect value against currency volatility.
According to data cited by the company from the International Monetary Fund, Nigeria has accounted for about 60 percent of stablecoin inflows into sub-Saharan Africa since 2019, largely driven by households and small businesses. The country also recorded approximately $59 billion in crypto asset inflows between July 2023 and June 2024.
To strengthen its presence in the Nigerian market, Bitget Wallet introduced a direct bank transfer feature in November 2025, enabling users to convert stablecoins such as USDT and USDC into naira with settlement through partner banks. The service was designed to simplify the movement of digital assets into the local banking system and improve access to digital payments.
The company’s payment card business has also recorded strong growth. More than 150,000 Bitget Wallet Cards have been issued across over 50 markets, with the cards accepted by more than 150 million merchants worldwide. Card spending reached $31 million during the first half of 2026, representing a sharp increase from the preceding six-month period, while spending in emerging markets expanded at a significantly faster pace than the global average.
Bitget said the platform has evolved beyond its origins as a cryptocurrency trading tool into a broader digital finance ecosystem offering payment cards, banking integrations and QR payment capabilities. Its settlement infrastructure has processed more than $177 billion in stablecoin transactions across over 80 payment networks and more than 100 currencies, reflecting growing demand for blockchain-powered financial services in both developed and emerging markets.
