McDonald’s has appointed Ugwechi A. Amadi as Senior Vice President and Chief Strategy Officer, strengthening its executive leadership team as the global fast-food company accelerates its long-term growth, business transformation and international expansion plans.
Amadi assumed the role in July 2026 and will work closely with the company’s senior leadership to shape enterprise-wide strategy, identify new growth opportunities and support the execution of McDonald’s long-term priorities across its global operations.
The appointment underscores McDonald’s continued investment in experienced executives as it responds to changing consumer behaviour, digital transformation and intensifying competition in the global quick-service restaurant industry. Brandspur Brand News reports that Amadi will lead strategic initiatives designed to reinforce the company’s competitive position while supporting innovation and sustainable growth.
Before joining McDonald’s, Amadi served as Executive Vice President and Head of Strategy and Performance at LIV Golf, where she worked with the organisation’s leadership on corporate strategy, business development, mergers and acquisitions, strategic investments and enterprise performance. She also previously held the role of Senior Vice President and Head of Strategy and Performance within the organisation.
Earlier in her career, she spent more than four years at Nike, holding several senior leadership positions focused on enterprise strategy, global operations, communications strategy, digital transformation, supply chain optimisation and sustainability. She also worked for six years at Boston Consulting Group, advising multinational companies in the consumer, retail, hospitality and apparel sectors on corporate strategy, organisational transformation and business growth.
Amadi brings a strong academic background to the position, having earned dual bachelor’s degrees in Brain and Cognitive Sciences and Literature from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, alongside a minor in Biology. She later completed a doctorate in Clinical Neuroscience at the University of Oxford as a Rhodes Scholar.
Her appointment comes as McDonald’s continues to expand its focus on innovation, customer engagement and operational excellence across international markets. The company is expected to leverage her experience in strategy, consulting and business transformation to strengthen long-term growth, enhance competitive positioning and unlock new opportunities in the rapidly evolving global restaurant industry.
