PayPal And Amazon Launch Buy Now, Pay Later Service In Germany And Austria

PayPal and Amazon have announced a new Buy Now, Pay Later (BNPL) partnership that will allow eligible customers in Germany and Austria to split the cost of purchases into fixed monthly instalments when shopping on Amazon.de and through the Amazon mobile app. The rollout is scheduled to begin in August 2026, expanding flexible payment options for millions of online shoppers across both markets.

Under the arrangement, customers can use PayPal Ratenzahlung to finance eligible purchases ranging from €30 to €10,000. Available repayment periods include three, six, 12 and 24 months, while Amazon shoppers will also gain access to exclusive 36 and 48-month repayment options for larger purchases, giving consumers additional flexibility when managing higher-value spending.

The partnership marks another step in PayPal’s expansion of its Pay Later services across Europe, bringing its instalment payment solution to one of the continent’s largest e-commerce platforms. According to Brandspur Banking News Desk, the integration is expected to make PayPal’s financing option available to more than 40 million PayPal users who shop on Amazon.de.

The instalment service will be integrated directly into Amazon’s checkout process, allowing customers to review repayment schedules, monthly costs and financing terms before completing a purchase. Users will also be able to monitor their repayment plans through the PayPal app or online dashboard, where they can track completed payments, view outstanding balances and make early repayments without additional charges.

Monthly repayments will be automatically deducted from a customer’s linked bank account or debit card, while payment reminders will be sent before each instalment is due. Standard eligibility requirements and lending terms applicable to PayPal Ratenzahlung in Germany and Austria will continue to apply.

The latest collaboration reflects growing demand for flexible digital payment solutions as Buy Now, Pay Later services continue to gain traction among European consumers seeking greater control over household spending and online purchases. With Amazon adding PayPal’s instalment option to its checkout experience, both companies are positioning themselves to capture increasing consumer interest in alternative payment methods across the region.
