Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu has commissioned Nigeria’s first integrated energy hub, a new facility designed to provide multiple fuel and clean energy services from a single location while supporting the country’s transition to alternative energy sources.
Located in Oshodi and developed by the Ibile Oil and Gas Corporation (IOGC), the facility brings together petrol, diesel, Compressed Natural Gas (CNG), Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG), electric vehicle (EV) charging and CNG vehicle conversion services under one roof. The project is expected to improve access to diverse energy options for motorists, businesses and commercial transport operators.
The commissioning represents another step in Lagos’ drive to modernise its energy infrastructure, Brandspur Brand News reports. The state government says the project aligns with its THEMES Plus Agenda by encouraging cleaner energy adoption, strengthening transport infrastructure and supporting economic growth.
Speaking at the inauguration, Sanwo-Olu described the energy hub as a response to the country’s changing energy needs. He said the facility would give residents and businesses greater convenience through access to multiple fuel options in one location while expanding affordable mobility and supporting Nigeria’s shift towards cleaner energy.
The governor also noted that the initiative is expected to unlock greater value from Nigeria’s natural gas resources, promote electric mobility, create employment opportunities and reduce transportation costs. According to him, improving access to affordable transport energy will enhance business productivity and contribute to better living standards for residents.
Managing Director of Ibile Oil and Gas Corporation, Temitayo Gbajumo, said the Oshodi project reflects the corporation’s broader transformation beyond conventional downstream petroleum operations. He disclosed that IOGC now operates 18 retail filling stations across Lagos, alongside eight LPG plants, four LPG skids, five operational CNG refilling stations and four CNG conversion centres that have converted more than 300 vehicles.
Gbajumo added that the corporation is expanding its clean energy footprint with 12 additional CNG stations under development and EV charging infrastructure aimed at supporting the growing adoption of electric mobility in Lagos. He said the investments position IOGC to play a leading role in delivering cleaner, more affordable and more reliable energy solutions across the state.
