Klarna, J.P. Morgan Launch Flexible Payment Option For US Shoppers

Klarna has gone live with its first integration with J.P. Morgan Payments in the United States, giving more businesses an easier way to offer customers flexible payment options at checkout.

The new integration means merchants using J.P. Morgan Payments’ Commerce Platform can now add Klarna without building a separate payment integration. Their customers can choose to pay immediately, spread payments through interest-free instalments, or use longer-term financing where available.

For shoppers, the change could mean more flexibility when paying for everyday purchases, travel, health and wellness services, and other products. For businesses, it offers another way to encourage customers who may hesitate to complete a purchase because of the upfront cost.

Brandspur Banking News Desk reports that Klarna’s move comes as flexible payment options become an increasingly important part of the shopping experience. The company said more than one in four Americans are more likely to complete a purchase when such options are available at checkout.

The integration also connects Klarna to J.P. Morgan Payments’ extensive merchant network. The payments business processes about $2.6 trillion in merchant transactions annually and is the largest merchant acquirer in the United States.

Klarna’s Chief Commercial Officer, David Sykes, said the launch represents the point where the companies’ collaboration begins delivering practical benefits to merchants.

J.P. Morgan Payments Global Head of Merchant Services, Michael Lozanoff, said merchants understand that flexible payments can help drive sales, but the technical work required to introduce them can sometimes stand in the way.

With the new integration, merchants already using J.P. Morgan Payments can provide Klarna’s payment choices through their existing setup, potentially making flexible checkout more accessible to businesses of different sizes across the US.
