TikTok is expanding its AI-powered advertising capabilities with Dreamina Seedance 2.5, allowing brands to create AI-generated video adverts of up to 30 seconds, double the previous 15-second limit under its Symphony advertising suite. The upgrade gives advertisers more room to develop product stories and promotional messages within a single AI-generated video.
ByteDance, TikTok’s parent company, has positioned Seedance 2.5 as a major improvement in AI video production. The model can work with as many as 50 multimodal references, including images, videos and audio, giving advertisers greater control over the look, sound and sequence of their campaigns. Independent reporting has also confirmed the model’s 30-second generation capability and expanded reference inputs.
For brands, the development could significantly reduce the time and resources required to produce short-form advertising content. Brandspur Brand News understands that the expanded format is also consistent with TikTok’s broader effort to encourage longer viewing sessions and compete more directly with platforms such as YouTube for audience attention.
TikTok’s move comes as social media platforms face growing concerns about the rapid spread of low-quality AI-generated content. While AI can make video production faster and cheaper, advertisers still have to contend with questions around authenticity, audience trust and whether synthetic content can generate the same connection as creator-led material.
The latest development also builds on TikTok Symphony’s existing integration with ByteDance’s Dreamina video technology. TikTok says the Symphony platform is designed to help advertisers create consistent video content at scale while reducing the need for manual production work.
For Nigerian businesses and advertising agencies, the expansion could make AI-generated campaigns increasingly attractive, particularly for brands seeking to produce more video content for social media without the cost and logistics associated with conventional production.
However, the technology does not remove the need for human creativity. As AI-generated advertising becomes more common, brands will have to find ways to combine the speed of automated production with ideas, storytelling and cultural relevance that audiences can recognise as authentic.
With Seedance 2.5, TikTok is effectively giving advertisers a longer canvas to tell their stories. Whether viewers will respond to those stories as strongly as they do to human-created content will ultimately determine how successful the strategy becomes.
