The University of Ibadan has announced the introduction of fully online postgraduate programmes for the 2026 academic intake, giving qualified applicants in Nigeria and abroad the opportunity to earn postgraduate qualifications without relocating to the university.
The programmes, approved by the university’s Senate for 100 per cent online delivery, will be offered through UI eCampus. They include academic and professional master’s degrees as well as postgraduate diploma programmes.
The initiative is expected to provide greater flexibility for working professionals and graduates who want to pursue further education while maintaining their careers and other personal commitments.
Brandspur Brand News understands that the programmes will be taught by University of Ibadan faculty, with students able to study from their current locations. Tuition payment by instalments will also be available for eligible programmes, subject to the applicable terms.
The university said the initiative forms part of its broader effort to expand access to quality postgraduate education while maintaining its academic and quality assurance standards.
The Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Research, Innovation and Strategic Partnerships, Professor Simisola O. Akintola, said the partnership supporting the initiative represented an important step in the university’s drive to embrace innovative approaches to delivering academic programmes.
She added that applications would be welcomed from qualified candidates within Nigeria and beyond.
According to the university, applicants will be required to meet its general admission requirements as well as any additional conditions attached to their chosen programmes. Applications will be submitted online once the portal opens.
Prospective students can obtain the programme prospectus and register for notifications about application opening dates, deadlines and new programme announcements through the UI eCampus platform.
The university described UI eCampus as an extension of its academic offering designed to make approved University of Ibadan programmes accessible beyond the physical campus.
Applications for the 2026 intake are expected to open soon, with programme-specific application procedures and deadlines to be published on the UI eCampus website.
