Abuja-based defence technology and robotics startup Terra Industries has secured $2 million in contracts to provide security systems for lithium mining operations in Nigeria, just one week after launching its new commercial division.
The agreements cover two mining operators and will see Terra deploy 20 autonomous sentry towers alongside four Iroko drones across their sites. The equipment will support surveillance, real-time threat detection and response around the mining operations.
Brandspur Brand News reports that the deployment will be coordinated through ArtemisOS, Terra Industries’ autonomous command-and-control software platform, which connects surveillance systems and processes data from drones and sensors.
The contracts represent an early commercial milestone for the company’s newly launched division and strengthen its presence in Nigeria’s mining sector at a time when the protection of critical mineral assets is attracting greater attention.

Terra’s Iroko drone is designed for surveillance, first response and infrastructure inspection. According to the company’s specifications, the unmanned aircraft can travel up to 50 kilometres, remain on a mission for up to 50 minutes and carry multiple types of sensors.
The company’s sentry technology provides continuous monitoring around critical infrastructure, while ArtemisOS brings information from different systems together to identify and track potential threats.
Terra said deployment under the new contracts will expand as the two mining operators bring additional sites online.
Founded in 2024, Terra Industries develops autonomous drones, surveillance towers and unmanned ground vehicles, with much of its engineering and manufacturing operation based in Abuja.
The latest contracts add to Terra’s growing portfolio in critical infrastructure security, extending the use of locally developed autonomous technology across Nigeria’s mining and energy industries.
