Lexus has announced the 2027 GX luxury SUV with new standard equipment, six available grades and a starting price of $69,085, including the US$1,550 delivery, processing and handling fee.
The updated GX largely carries over the features of the previous model year, while Lexus has introduced changes aimed at improving convenience and passenger comfort. SmartAccess four-door and tailgate entry is now standard across the range, while ventilated rear outboard seats become standard on the Luxury, Luxury+ and Overtrail+ grades.
The 2027 Lexus GX will continue to use a 3.4-litre twin-turbocharged V6 engine paired with a 10-speed Direct Shift automatic transmission. Brandspur Brand News reports that the powertrain produces 349 horsepower and 479 lb-ft of torque, with an EPA-estimated highway fuel economy of 21 miles per gallon.
The six variants comprise the GX 550 Premium, Premium+, Luxury, Luxury+, Overtrail and Overtrail+. Prices range from $69,085 for the Premium to $85,600 for the Luxury+, while the Overtrail and Overtrail+ are priced at $76,730 and $85,010 respectively.
Lexus has retained the GX’s body-on-frame construction using the GA-F platform, which is also used by the current-generation LX. The architecture is designed to provide the rigidity required for off-road driving while supporting more controlled handling on paved roads.
Full-time four-wheel drive remains standard across the range, alongside a Torsen limited-slip locking centre differential. The Overtrail and Overtrail+ versions receive additional off-road hardware, including a one-inch suspension lift, an electronically controlled locking rear differential and an Electronic Kinetic Dynamic Suspension System.

The GX can also be equipped with features such as Crawl Control and Multi-Terrain Select. Its off-road camera system uses four cameras to give drivers additional views around and beneath the vehicle, with images displayed on the 14-inch multimedia screen.
Inside, the SUV combines a 14-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a 12.3-inch multi-information display and physical controls for frequently used functions. Depending on specification, buyers can also choose features including a Head-Up Display, Cool Box and 21-speaker Mark Levinson surround sound system.
The SUV can seat up to seven people in the Premium, Premium+, Luxury and Luxury+ grades. Second-row seating is available as either captain’s chairs or a 60:40 split-folding bench, while the third row can be configured with power or manual seats.
Safety equipment is also extensive across the range. Every 2027 GX comes with Lexus Safety System+ 3.0, which includes pre-collision detection, adaptive cruise control, lane-tracing assistance, lane-departure warning and road-sign recognition.
Additional connected features include cloud-based navigation, Intelligent Assistant and remote vehicle functions through the Lexus app. Some services, including Digital Key and Traffic Jam Assist, are available through subscriptions and depend on network connectivity.
The 2027 GX will be assembled at Lexus’ Tahara plant in Japan, with exterior colours varying by grade. The Overtrail models will also be available with exclusive two-tone combinations featuring a black roof.
For Nigerian luxury SUV buyers, the GX’s combination of three-row practicality, premium interior equipment and off-road capability places it within a segment where purchase costs extend beyond the manufacturer’s US pricing.
