The Association of Corporate Communication and Marketing Professionals in Banks (ACAMB) has urged banking communication professionals to prioritise credibility, responsibility and trust as artificial intelligence and digital media transform the way financial institutions communicate.
The association’s president, Babajide Sipe, made the call on Tuesday, September 15, 2026, during a press conference at Bankers House, Lagos, organised to mark ACAMB’s 30th anniversary.
Brandspur Banking News Desk reports that the anniversary is themed “30 Years of Shaping Narratives and Building Trust”, reflecting the association’s focus on professional communication and stakeholder confidence as information moves faster across digital platforms.
Sipe said advances in AI, digital media and rapid information flow were presenting communication professionals with both fresh opportunities and new challenges. He stressed the need for practitioners to remain innovative and responsive without compromising professionalism, integrity and credibility.
He said effective corporate communication extends beyond simply transmitting information, as it also shapes understanding, influences perceptions responsibly, builds relationships and strengthens confidence among stakeholders.
Founded in September 1996, ACAMB has spent three decades promoting professional standards within banking communication. Its activities have included capacity building, conferences, knowledge sharing, advocacy, reputation management support and mentorship for younger professionals.
Sipe said the association has had 10 successive presidents since its establishment and has expanded its focus beyond professional development to areas including member wellness, environmental sustainability and community development.
The association has also maintained partnerships with regulators, media organisations and other institutions as part of its broader engagement with the banking and communications ecosystem.
Looking ahead, Sipe said ACAMB would concentrate on strengthening its professional community, improving stakeholder engagement, embracing innovation and creating greater value for its members, the banking sector and society.
The 30th anniversary celebrations have included a tree planting exercise and a golf and networking outing. The programme will conclude with a gala and awards night scheduled for September 30 at the Civic Centre in Lagos.
FirstBank, Providus Bank, Quest Merchant Bank, Union Bank, GTBank and Zenith Bank are among the financial institutions sponsoring the closing event, according to Sipe.
