Leadway Assurance has introduced a short term insurance package aimed at protecting visitors and businesses against unexpected losses as international travel and commercial activity around Nigeria’s festive season continue to increase.
Known as the Leadway Arrival Pack, the product is designed for diaspora Nigerians, tourists, business travellers, students and other short term visitors, as well as businesses that provide services to them.
Brandspur Banking News Desk reports that the insurer unveiled the package at an event in Lagos attended by stakeholders from the travel, tourism, aviation, lifestyle and financial services sectors.
The initiative is targeted particularly at periods when visitor numbers and consumer activity rise sharply, with December identified as its flagship season for the 2026 festive period. Leadway said the cover is also intended for other high activity periods, including Easter and Eid celebrations.
According to the insurer, international passenger movements into Nigeria increased from 4.33 million in 2024 to 4.85 million in 2025, representing growth of about 12 per cent.
The rise in arrivals has coincided with busier periods for airports, hotels, event centres, restaurants, transport operators and other businesses that serve travellers and visitors. Leadway said increased activity also brings greater exposure to unforeseen risks.
The Arrival Pack was developed as a flexible alternative for people who may only spend a few days or weeks in Nigeria and therefore may have little need for conventional long term insurance policies.
For visitors, the product is intended to provide protection during temporary stays, including periods when travel, family gatherings, concerts, weddings, tourism and nightlife drive increased movement across the country.
Leadway said businesses catering to these visitors can also benefit from the additional protection, particularly during periods when demand for accommodation, transportation, hospitality and entertainment services rises significantly.
The insurer said the package is already available for purchase through its website, allowing eligible visitors and businesses to arrange coverage ahead of periods of heightened activity.
While December will be the major focus of the product as the 2026 festive season approaches, Leadway stressed that the Arrival Pack is not restricted to Christmas travel and can be used during other seasonal periods when travel and commercial activity increase.
