The inaugural Spirit of Africa Festival will hold in Nairobi, Kenya, from October 6 to 8, 2026, bringing together travel industry players and representatives of Africa’s creative sectors in an effort to strengthen intra African tourism and cultural exchange.
The three day festival will take place at Uhuru Gardens as an official cultural side event of the Magical Kenya Travel Expo 2026, with the Kenya Tourism Board serving as its institutional partner.
Brandspur Brand News reports that the festival is built around the theme, “Africa, In One Place”, and is designed to create a meeting point between the tourism trade and the creative industries that shape how African destinations are experienced and perceived.
The programme will cover music and performing arts, fashion and design, gastronomy, visual arts, heritage, as well as dialogue and thought leadership. Organisers say the combination is intended to bring tourism businesses closer to the cultural experiences that attract visitors across the continent.
Clara Chinwe Okoro, initiative strategist, said the festival was created in response to the separation between Africa’s creative and formal tourism platforms, despite the cross border nature of music, fashion and art.
The event will run alongside the Magical Kenya Travel Expo, allowing international buyers, hospitality professionals and policymakers to engage with creative practitioners and cultural businesses during the three day programme.
Organisers are also positioning the festival around the growth of intra continental travel, encouraging Africans to view neighbouring countries not only as separate destinations but as connected markets for travel, investment and cultural experiences.
The initiative comes as regional integration efforts seek to make movement and commerce across African markets easier. Its organisers hope this environment can support a stronger market for Africans travelling within the continent.
Registration for trade delegates, media accreditation and ticket sales is expected to open through the festival’s official portal in mid 2026.
The Spirit of Africa Festival will therefore combine tourism, culture and creative commerce in a single platform, with Nairobi serving as the host city for its first edition.
