LG NeoChef Brings Jollof Rice, Moi Moi And Suya To New African AutoCook Menu

LG Electronics has launched an enhanced NeoChef microwave with a dedicated African AutoCook Menu, bringing familiar Nigerian meals including Jollof Rice, Moi Moi, Poundo Yam and Suya into a range of pre-programmed cooking options.

The appliance features 28 AutoCook programmes, comprising 20 African-inspired menus alongside eight Arabic and European options. The development expands the microwave’s function beyond conventional reheating and defrosting, giving households programmed settings tailored to a wider range of meals.

Brandspur Brand News reports that the African menu includes Jollof Rice, Coconut Rice, Pap, Asun, Chicken-Dodo Suya, Vegetable Fried Rice, Jollof Pasta, Fish in Curry Sauce, Suya Roasted Fish, Plantain Cheesy Bite and Grilled Corn, among other dishes. The programmes are designed to adjust cooking settings for individual meals, reducing the need for users to determine the appropriate settings themselves.

LG said the feature was developed around the cooking habits and preferences of African consumers. Oktae Kim, Product Director, Home Appliances Solutions, LG Electronics West Africa, said the company’s approach to innovation begins with understanding consumers and creating products that reflect their lifestyles and local food culture.

The NeoChef MH8265CIS comes with a 42-litre capacity and 1,200W microwave output, alongside grill functionality and LG Smart Inverter Technology. The system is designed to provide controlled power for more even heating and defrosting.

The appliance also has an EasyClean antibacterial coating, touch controls and multiple cooking functions aimed at giving users greater flexibility in preparing meals at home.

The introduction of the African AutoCook Menu marks a localisation strategy for LG, combining its existing appliance technology with cooking programmes based on foods commonly prepared in African homes. Rather than limiting the microwave to quick reheating, the company is positioning the NeoChef as an appliance capable of supporting more aspects of everyday meal preparation.

For Nigerian households, the programmed options cover dishes that can involve different cooking requirements, from rice and pasta meals to traditional staples and grilled foods. The additional Arabic and European menus also allow users to prepare a broader selection of meals using the same appliance.

LG said the enhanced NeoChef is aimed at households seeking greater convenience as daily routines become more demanding, while retaining familiar foods and flavours in home cooking.

The NeoChef Microwave with African AutoCook Menu is available through LG Brand Shops, Fouani Showrooms and authorised LG retail partners nationwide.
