Africa Magic Showcase will premiere a documentary celebrating the life and career of veteran Nigerian actor Sir Olu Jacobs, days after his death on September 16, 2026.
Titled Doyen of Nollywood: Celebrating Olu Jacobs, the documentary will examine Jacobs’ decades-long career across theatre, television and film, while reflecting on his influence on Nigeria’s creative industry.
Directed by filmmaker Femi Odugbemi and produced by Zuri 24 Media, the production brings together actors and industry figures who worked with or knew Jacobs. Brandspur Brand News reports that the documentary will feature personal recollections from Joke Silva, Afolabi Adesanya, Taiwo Ajai-Lycett, Richard Mofe-Damijo, Patience Ozokwor, Kate Henshaw and Jahman Anikulapo.
Their accounts will offer viewers a closer look at Jacobs’ professional life and the lasting impression he made on colleagues and younger performers. The documentary is also expected to revisit his work beyond individual performances, including the discipline and professionalism associated with his career.

Doyen of Nollywood: Celebrating Olu Jacobs will premiere on Africa Magic Showcase on Friday, September 25, at 6:35pm.
The documentary will receive further broadcasts on Saturday, September 26, at 10:30pm; Monday, September 28, at 4:30pm; and Wednesday, September 30, at 2:35pm.
The scheduled broadcasts will give audiences another opportunity to revisit the career of a veteran whose work spanned Nigeria’s theatre, television and film industries.
