PepsiCo Reportedly Plans $1bn Investment In Colombia Over Five Years

PepsiCo is reportedly set to invest $1 billion in Colombia over the next five years, with the proposed spending expected to expand production, modernise operations and strengthen the company’s distribution network across the country.

The announcement was made by Colombia’s President, Abelardo De La Espriella, on September 28, 2026, following a meeting with executives of the global food and beverage company.

According to Brandspur Brand News, the proposed investment was announced after Colombia’s Vice President, José Manuel Restrepo, and Minister of Commerce, Industry and Tourism, Mauricio Gómez Amín, held discussions with international business leaders in New York over investment opportunities in the country.

The Colombian government had presented investors with a portfolio of more than 150 projects as part of efforts to attract fresh capital and expand productive activity.

De La Espriella said PepsiCo’s planned investment would also support employment and benefit more than 2,000 farmers, while strengthening the network of small shop owners that sell its products across the country.

For Colombia’s food and beverage sector, the reported commitment would represent a significant expansion of PepsiCo’s existing operations, particularly through increased production capacity and upgrades to its distribution infrastructure.

Amín described the proposed investment as another indication of private sector confidence in Colombia, linking it to the government’s wider efforts to attract capital, strengthen productive activity and create employment opportunities.

He said the investment formed part of the government’s Crecer Mission, an economic strategy aimed at driving growth and moving Colombia towards a 6 per cent GDP growth target.

PepsiCo had not independently confirmed the reported $1 billion commitment at the time of the announcement. FoodBev Media said it had contacted the company for confirmation and further details about the planned investment.
