Dufil Prima Foods Limited, the manufacturer of Indomie instant noodles, has donated science laboratory equipment to Ikeja Senior Grammar School in Lagos to improve students’ access to practical learning in Chemistry, Physics and Biology.
The donation is intended to help students move beyond classroom theory by giving them the materials needed to conduct experiments, observe scientific processes and develop practical skills. It also marks the first in a planned series of interventions by the company to support science education.
The Brandspur Brand News Desk reports that the equipment was selected following an assessment of the school’s needs, with Dufil identifying gaps in its existing laboratory resources before deciding what to provide.
The items include compound microscopes, test tubes, beakers, conical and volumetric flasks, measuring instruments, electrical equipment, dissecting kits, specimen trays and laboratory safety materials. Together, they are expected to support practical sessions across the three major science subjects.
The school’s principal and director, Mrs Ajibola Johnson, welcomed the intervention, explaining that several of the donated materials were needed but had not been available to students. She said the equipment would allow learners to participate more fully in practical lessons and strengthen their understanding of scientific concepts.
Practical work is an important part of science education, helping students test ideas, make observations and apply what they learn in the classroom. Access to appropriate laboratory equipment can therefore make a difference to how effectively schools deliver science lessons.
Temitope Ashiwaju, Dufil Prima Foods’ group corporate communications and events manager, said the company’s community support initiatives were guided by identified needs rather than simply distributing items. He noted that education remains one of its areas of social investment, alongside healthcare and community development.
The company also supports educational initiatives through scholarships and the provision of educational and medical resources. Its latest intervention focuses on making science learning more accessible to students at the Lagos school.
For Ikeja Senior Grammar School, the equipment offers an opportunity to strengthen practical teaching and give students more direct experience with the scientific methods they study. The donation also forms part of Dufil Prima Foods’ broader efforts to support communities through targeted social investment.
