Guinness Nigeria Donates Advanced Eye Diagnostic Equipment to NAUTH

Guinness Nigeria Plc has donated advanced eye diagnostic equipment to the Guinness Eye Centre at Nnamdi Azikiwe University Teaching Hospital (NAUTH), Nnewi, as part of its ongoing support for specialist eye care in Nigeria.

The equipment, a Takagi Autorefractor Keratometer (ARKM-200), will support examinations used to determine patients’ eyeglass prescriptions and calculate the power of artificial lenses required for cataract surgery. It was identified by the hospital’s eye centre as its priority equipment need for the year.

The latest donation forms part of Guinness Nigeria’s annual support programme for the Guinness Eye Centres at NAUTH and Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH). The company has maintained the initiative for several years, providing equipment intended to strengthen the facilities’ capacity to deliver eye care services.

Brandspur Brand News gathered that the donation builds on other interventions by the company, including its sponsorship of 150 free cataract surgeries in 2025 to mark its 75th anniversary. The procedures were carried out across the two Guinness Eye Centres, helping beneficiaries access treatment for a condition that can significantly affect vision and daily activities.

NAUTH acknowledged the latest contribution in a letter signed by Dr Odili Okoye, Chairman of its Medical Advisory Committee. He said the equipment would improve services available to patients at the Guinness Eye Centre, Onitsha, while the hospital also recognised the company’s broader support over the years.

Rotimi Odusola, Corporate Relations Director at Guinness Nigeria, said the company remained committed to supporting healthcare professionals and expanding access to essential eye care. He noted that its annual equipment donations and the cataract surgery programme reflected a sustained approach to supporting the communities it serves.

The new equipment is expected to assist medical personnel with routine diagnostic assessments and preparations for cataract surgery. By continuing to support specialist facilities at NAUTH and LUTH, Guinness Nigeria is maintaining a programme that combines investment in hospital equipment with interventions that directly help patients receive treatment.
