DeepSeek Super Agent, a new autonomous AI coding tool from Chinese technology startup DeepSeek, is designed to detect software development problems and recommend solutions without waiting for developers to give it instructions, as competition with US-based Anthropic intensifies.
The open-source prototype can monitor group conversations among software developers, identify complaints or feedback about coding issues and suggest possible fixes. This marks a shift from conventional AI coding assistants, which typically require users to submit prompts before generating responses.
The launch puts DeepSeek in more direct competition with Anthropic’s Claude Code, as technology companies in China and the United States seek to develop AI agents capable of handling complex professional tasks. Brandspur Banking News Desk reports that the new product is still at the prototype stage and has not been presented as a production-ready service.
DeepSeek’s dedicated Harness team announced the development on Chinese social media platform WeChat on Saturday. The team, established earlier this year, focuses on building AI agents that can compete with coding services offered by leading American technology companies.
In its GitHub user manual, DeepSeek describes the tool as an attempt to reduce the attention developers must give to routine tasks while providing usdeepseek super agent: chinese ai startup unveils autonomous coding tool to challenge claudeeful assistance. Its ability to identify problems through conversations is intended to make AI support more proactive.
The technology relies on an AI harness, a software framework that allows a language model to interact with external tools, coordinate activities and manage complex workflows. Such infrastructure helps transform AI models from systems that generate code into agents capable of carrying out broader software development tasks.
Anthropic and other AI companies have also invested in this technology as they seek to improve the ability of their models to automate professional work.

DeepSeek’s latest move comes as the company reportedly raises substantial funding to strengthen its position in the global AI market. According to Bloomberg, the Hangzhou-based startup secured approximately 100 billion yuan, or $15 billion, in its latest fundraising round.
The target reportedly increased from an initial 50 billion yuan to 80 billion yuan before reaching the final amount. Battery manufacturer Contemporary Amperex Technology and Tencent Holdings, the operator of WeChat, were among the major investors, according to people familiar with the transaction cited by Bloomberg.
The fundraising is expected to support DeepSeek’s ambitions to compete with established AI companies, including Anthropic and OpenAI, as it moves towards a planned initial public offering.
For software developers and businesses, the growing competition could bring more advanced coding automation tools and potentially lower the cost of accessing AI-powered services. However, DeepSeek’s new agent must demonstrate its reliability and practical value before it can be considered a viable commercial alternative to established products.
