Nigerian Idol Season 6 Premieres This Sunday

The sixth season of the popular singing competition show, Nigerian Idol, premieres Sunday, March 14th from 6 pm on DStv Channel 198 and GOtv Channel 29.

The much-anticipated show will open with a special airing of the most entertaining moments from the auditions which took place late last year. COVID-19: CACOVID Donates Incinerator, 260 Oxygen Cylinder To LASG

The Coalition Against COVID-19 (CACOVID), has fulfilled its pledge to the Lagos State Government by donating 260 medical oxygen gas cylinders and a newly purchased incinerator to the Yaba Isolation centre in Lagos.

Speaking to media at the commissioning of the Incinerator and presentation of gas cylinder to Lagos State government, Managing Director and CEO of Aliko Dangote Foundation, who doubles as an administrator of CACOVID, Zouera Youssoufou said, though a total number of 260 gas cylinder of different sizes were donated to the Lagos State government including an incinerator, for now, CACOVID will do more to assist the LASG and other states across the country to ensure that the fight against the deadly coronavirus is finally won.

She explained that incineration is a waste treatment process that involves the combustion of organic substances contained in waste materials and this will eradicate the risk of the waste from the isolation centre in the community.

She also noted that incineration can be moved from one centre to another and it can serve the whole isolation centres in the State.

Expressing deepest appreciation of the state government to all the members of the CACOVID team, Commissioner for Health for Lagos State, Dr Akinola Abayomi applauded the prompt intervention of the team, at the time the state was in dire need of both oxygen and its cylinders.

He said CACOVID showed up at a time oxygen cylinders were so hard to find and for this, the State will remain very appreciative of the kind gesture.

Abayomi noted that CACOVID has always come to the support of the government. On the demand for Oxygen, he said that “Our demand has not exceeded our supply”, saying that the logistics behind oxygen is quite complex and sophisticated.

He noted that Lagos State is building capacity, adding that “Building our oxygen logistics and we are about to commission a new oxygen plant in Gbagada.”

He also pointed out the waste that comes out of the isolation, the centre is biomedical waste, which is toxic to human, saying that the incinerator will reduce its potential risk on the community and this can be used for the next 50 years.

Youssoufou recently said the provision of oxygen to all the isolation centres across the country was made possible by a key partner of CACOVID, Mr Raj Gupta of African Industries Group, at no costs, immediately the request for oxygen was made from the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19.

Chairman of African Industries Group, Mr Raj Gupta promised that his company will continue to provide oxygen free of charge to all the states across the country, through CACOVID.

He said: “We will continue to support Nigeria with oxygen for free for as long as this is required. No Covid patient in any public hospital or isolation centre should have to pay for oxygen.”

According to data presented by Safe Betting Sites, the top three Google Play games hit 70.7 million downloads in January. With more than 30 million downloads that month, Among Us ranked as the most popular game among Android users.

In January, mobile games saw the return of hyper-casual titles. The Airnow data show Sushi Roll 3D was the third-leading gaming app in Google Play Store in January. In just 30 days, the title was downloaded 19.3 million times.

Voodoo the Most-Downloaded Publisher in Google Play Store, Moon Active Tops in Revenue.

Analyzed by publishers, Voodoo topped the Google Play Store ranking in January. Statistics show the titles of the French video game developer and publisher were downloaded 107 million times that month, or 40% more than the other leading names.

Second-ranked Lion Studios hit 76.6 million downloads from Android users that month. Casual Azur Games, SayGames, and SuperSonic Studios LTD followed with 61.1million, 57.4 million, and 44.1 million downloads, respectively.

However, the charts show different ranking when it comes to revenues. In January, Moon Active was the top gaming app publisher on Google Play Store worldwide with $104.1 million in revenue. Playrix ranked second with $77.8 million in revenue from Android users. King, Garena International Private Limited and SuperCell followed with $52.2 million, $51.6 million, and $51.4 million in revenues that month.

Global Consumer Electronics Revenues To Grow By 3.6% YoY And it $1.06T in 2021

Like many other sectors, the consumer electronics market has also been affected by the COVID-19 crisis. The surge in global demand for PCs abated the pandemic’s negative effect on consumer electronics spending, which still slipped to $1.02trn in 2020.

According to data presented by Stock Apps, global consumer electronics revenues are expected to grow by 3.6% year-over-year and hit $1.06trn in 2021.

Phone Sales to Generate 50% of Consumer Electronics Revenues
The global consumer electronics sector has witnessed a steady growth in recent years, with revenues rising from $844.7bn in 2012 to $1.03trn in 2019, revealed Statista data.

However, with supermarkets and showrooms of leading brands shut down during the COVID-19 lockdown and consumers across the globe prioritizing their spending, the sales of consumer electronics products slipped by $7bn in 2020.

The Statista data show global consumer electronics spending is expected to rise by $36bn and reach $1.06trn in 2021. By 2025, the unified market is forecast to hit a $1.16trn value.

Global phone sales, including landline phones, mobile phones, and smartphones, are expected to jump by 5.7% YoY and generate $512.1bn or almost 50% of total revenues in 2021.

Despite a surge in demand for PCs due to remote working and distance learning, the computing segment’s revenue is expected to rise by only 1.8% and reach $280bn this year.

The revenues of the TV, radio, and multimedia segment are set to rise by 1.1% year-over-year to $255.4bn in 2021. TV peripheral devices market follows with $9.4bn in sales, 8.8% more than a year ago. However, statistics show that the drone market is expected to witness the biggest growth in 2021, with revenues rising by 18% in a year to $3.5bn.

With millions of consumers shifting from brick-and-mortar stores to online shops, e-commerce became the key driving factor of the consumer electronics market. The Statista survey revealed that online sales are expected to generate 38% of global consumer electronics revenues in 2021, up from 32% before the COVID-19 pandemic.

Analyzed by geography, China represents the world’s largest consumer electronics market, forecast to generate $258.8bn in revenue in 2021, more than the other three leading markets combined. The country also shows the highest online shopping adoption, with 63% of consumers expected to make consumer electronics purchases in webshops this year.

After falling to $130.2bn in 2020, the revenues of the US market, as the second-largest consumer electronics market globally, are forecast to rise to $133.5bn this year.
