iFlix, a subscription video on demand service for emerging markets, was launched in Nigeria on Thursday.
To attract Nigerians to the platform, the service offers subscribers one month free trial on its website or by downloading the app on their phone or tablet, giving them access to movies without contractual obligations.
Speaking at the launch, Ngozi Madueke-Dozie, country manager, said the subscription service is targeted at the mass market.
“We are especially thrilled to launch iFlix in Nigeria. It offers affordability, variety, and convenience by giving our users an amazing selection of the best TV shows and movies from all over the world, to stream or download on any device of their choice for less than N800,” she said.
“We are fully operational in Nigeria, investing heavily in local content and the entertainment industry. We have a local operations team based in Lagos and this allows us to feel the pulse of our users, which we reflect in our marketing and content.

With over 220 studio and distributor partnerships, iFlix offers subscribers a large selection of TV series and movies both internationally and locally available in the region.
iROKO, the most popular video-on-demand platform in Nigeria, will mark its sixth year of operation in December.
Head honcho of iROKO, Jason Njoku, recently shared with TheCable Lifestyle the factors responsible for the steady growth of the platform.
“As a movie platform, we’ve evolved with our customers which has seen our subscriber numbers grow, most notably in Nigeria,” he had said.
With iFlix now on the scene, serious competition is inevitable in the video-on-demand sub-industry.
