Farmers NIGERIAN at any time will soon begin to sell yams, weighing against the usual ways of selling by number.
According to the chairman of the Technical Committee for the export program of Yama, Professor Simon Irtvan, the committee is currently focusing on how to enter the sale of the pit by weight.
“We need to make changes in the way we do the marketing of pits. We want to standardize the marketing structure in Nigeria, where we will also submit the sale of the pit by weight, “he said.
He noted that at the moment the matter became mandatory, therefore some seed companies will not sell seeds either in quantity but in weight with the support of the International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA)
Irtwange added that “we have already signed a Memorandum of Understanding, and we agreed on N400 per kilogram of pits.”
The Chairman noted that the committee takes into account ways to ensure uniformity in the measurement format for selling pits at the local level with international best practices.
