The Access Bank Lagos City Marathon is around the corner and everyone’s excited about it for obvious reasons. The event has come to be known as one of the biggest marathon races in the world and the biggest in entire West Africa.
This year’s edition will hold on 2nd February 2019.
The Access Lagos City Marathon or simply Lagos city marathon is an annual event spearheaded by Access Bank and proudly supported by the Lagos State Government and some of the biggest, finest and trusted brands; Pepsi, Aquafina, GAC Motors and recently, Revolution Plus Property.
The maiden edition held in 2016 with a massive turnout of over 50,000 participants from across the world. The marathon awards its top 10 winners in its 42km and 10km races.
Here’s a break down of what to expect at this year’s event;
- First place winner in the 42km goes home with a $50,000 cash prize- Kenyans have been the winners of this prize with Abraham Kiplum winning the 2016 and 2017 editions and Abraham Kiprotich winning 2018.
- There are prizes for the first ten Nigerians to finish the race; with the first Nigerian winning an N3,000,000 cash prize.
- The winner of the 10km race goes home with GAC Salon car.
What’s better than that? The marathon is much more than a competition. It is a community, A community of go-getters, tourists, the fun lovers… a community for everyone.
Various people from different walks of life show up at the event; people from business, media, politics, sports, health and the entertainment industry. This year expects over 150,000 participants. It’s a really good place to give out business cards.
