It is good news for iPhone lovers and users in Nigeria with the launch of the SanDisk iXpand Flash Drive. You can capture your every moment on you I-device without worrying about running out of memory space with a capacity as high as 256gb.

The SanDisk iXpand Flash Drive is super compact and very is fast when used as a backup device for your iPhone or when connected to a computer. This accessory does not only store it also enables you to play back content speedy when working with a computer and adds up to 128GB of storage to your iPhone or iPad. Its mobile app can back up data from your mobile device effectively and playback content well.

With a slick design that fits the iPhone as a perfect companion, the iXpand Flash Drive offers an easy way to free up space on your iPhone, automatically backs up your camera roll, and even lets you watch popular-format videos straight from the drive. The drive has both a flexible Lightning connector that works with most cases and a USB 3.0 connector to plug into your Mac computer or PC so you can easily move your files wherever you want. The iXpand Flash Drive also includes encryption software that lets you password-protect files, so you can share your content while keeping sensitive files secure across your devices.

Personally, I have had my own fair share of low storage at critical moments like when my wife was having her graduation party. I left with the intention of not allowing any moment to go by without being captured, however, after taking about 40 photos, my phone abruptly warned me that I was low on storage. This wasn’t the first time and ultimately wasn’t the last with an already exhausted free icloud 5 Gigabyte. I have had to delete and delete previously cherished and loved photos and videos. Apple does not make it any easier with its charges for additional storage spaces on users. I have endured countless embarrassing moments with no respite in sight without incurring additional charges.

Another instance was when I was in a location without internet, I couldn’t back up to free up space for days and the only solution was to delete. I am sure I am not the only with these experiences, however, having to delete pictures or videos is now a thing of the past with the iXpand Flash Drive, this tool solves a lot if not all of my storage problems.

The SanDisk iXpand Flash Drive is a 2.53-inch tall and 1.4-inch wide USB and Lightning connector that is meant for transferring data from mobile device to mobile device or from the mobile device to desktop.

The iXpand houses both the USB and Lightning connector within a grey metal chassis. The Lightning connector is attached to the chassis via a rubber tube that is just flexible enough to protrude upward at a 45-degree angle into your mobile device. Be careful when pulling the connector up towards your iPhone port. Immediately, it is connected to your phone, the iXpand prompts you right away to download the iXpand Sync app and you are given series of prompts that explain how the device works and how you can get started.

Once it’s plugged in, the iXpand immediately prompts you to download the iXpand Sync app, which is where the magic happens. You’re efficiently walked through a series of prompts that explain how the device works and how you can get started.

There is a red prompt button on the app’s interface which once clicked pulls up your photos and videos for you to select the files to copy from your phone onto the flash drive. Just as you would select which photos to move into a folder within your camera roll, you click photos within the iXpand Sync app and you’re ready to start copying to the drive.

Once your iPhone is synced with the drive, you will be able to sync your camera roll to the iXpand Sync app. Once you’ve ordered the device to sync to your phone, each time you plug it into the device on which the app has been downloaded, the drive will automatically download your images onto the flash drive. The app is smart enough to not overwrite old files, so you don’t have to worry about a lengthy rewrite process every time you plug the device into your phone. You can also unclick the auto-sync button and disable the functionality.

The iXpand can also save documents in Word and PDF formats as well as other file types, in as much as you have the app that can open the file on your phone.

Another amazing feature of this drive is that it allows you to airdrop your file or document with ease. What it implies is that you can share a file from your phone using the iXpand without actually storing them on your phone.

The price range of the SanDisk iXpand Flash Drive is around ₦17,000 to get 32 GB and ₦ 27,499 for 64GB. It is also available on various online stores such as Konga or Jumia

My verdict on this device:

The iXpand has a lot of capacity in terms of being a nice accessory as it enhances storage beyond the current challenges users of iPhones encounter. However, it can’t store more than 4 Gigabyte file at once.
