As part of the collaboration between Lagos Traffic Radio and Lagos State Waterways Authority, LASWA, to promote water transportation, water safety guards have commenced training in filing live reports from the jetties.

According to a release by the broadcast station, over eight water guard supervisors from all the major terminals and jetties in Lagos took part in live reporting training conducted by Director Programmes, Victor Oteri and Director, News and Current Affairs, Babatunde Akinyemi on basic tools of reporting for radio at LASWA’s headquarters, Falomo, Lagos.

The release stated that the initiative by the two agencies is part of efforts by the State government to encourage more people to patronise water transportation in order to ease the pressure on the road networks across the State.

It added that the idea is also part of the core mandate of Lagos Traffic Radio to cover all modes of transportation beyond just road traffic, noting that the next phase of the training which comes up in two months, would be to further sharpen the skills of the water guards in filing live reports from the various jetties.

The statement averred that the Station will commence transmission of live reports from various jetties and terminals on Monday, 25th of February, 2019.

Present at the training were water-guard supervisors from Ikorodu/Ijede jetties, Liverpool/Apapa, Ojo, Falomo and Agboyi/Ketu jetties.
