UNIMED Starts Free Dental Check-up

In line with its mission to ‘expand access to compassionate and high-quality health care for under-served populations’, the Dental clinic of the University of Medical Sciences, UNIMED, Ondo has commenced free dental check-up for members of the public. 

The Vice-Chancellor, University of Medical Sciences, Ondo, Prof. Friday Okonofua, FAS, FAAS led other management staff of the University on a tour of the magnificent Dental Centre at UNIMED Teaching Hospital, Laje Road, Ondo.
The dental clinic with newly installed state of the art facilities is designed to provide services such as scaling and polishing, fillings, orthodontic treatment (braces), oral and maxillofacial surgical procedures, dental prostheses among others.
The Acting Head of the Department of Child Dental Health, University of Medical Sciences, Unimed Ondo, Dr Olabimpe Soyoye harped on the importance of dental health.
‘Your mouth is the gateway to your body, hence the need to take adequate care of all the structures in the mouth. The manifestation of most of the diseases affecting the body is first seen in the mouth. Failure to pay attention to your oral health can have a negative influence on your quality of life’ she said.
The free dental check-up organized in conjunction with UNIMED Teaching Hospital, Ondo begins today, and it is expected to last until 8th of March, 2019.
The Vice-Chancellor’s team received free check-up along with other members of the public who are already benefiting from the programme.
