Highlights the Importance of Government and Traditional Institutions’ collaboration in promoting investments

His Imperial Majesty, the Ooni of Ife in South West Nigeria has commended the activities of the Nigerian Investment Promotion Commission (NIPC) in supporting Nigeria’s economic development drive.

He made this known in an exclusive interview with the NIPC Intelligence newsletter team at the just concluded 4th edition of the Kaduna Economic and Investment Summit (KADINVEST 4.0). NIPC has been “recording mileage of success stories, so all we can do is to continue to support them. I’m very impressed with them, and I know that they will continue to record success stories.”

Speaking on the role monarchs play in encouraging investments in the country, he advised traditional rulers not to leave governance to only elected officials considering that the length of their tenure was not enough to consolidate on policy measures. He enjoined traditional rulers and constitutionally elected officials to work together to promote investments.

Speaking further he encouraged wealthy Nigerians to invest in the country stating that investments mean more jobs for the youths. He disclosed that he was re-orientating wealthy Nigerians with funds within and outside the country to invest in their country stating that the quantum of investment by Nigerians in Nigeria is not impressive and should be harnessed to encourage foreign investments. “Foreign investments will come naturally like smart money; smart money always looks for where it is requested.” He said.

In responding to a question about the role he is playing at the KADINVEST 4.0 he stated “anywhere there is support for creating employment and making the youths of this country have pride of place, I’m always very associated with it, hence my sojourn to Kaduna all the way from the western part.

What they’re doing in Kaduna is very impressive and we are feeling the impact, people are feeling the impact. There is investment inflow on a concurrent basis in Kaduna. We are very happy about it. I’m proud to be associated with his Excellency Mallam Nasir El Rufai because I know he will turn Kaduna State around.”

The Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi is a Nigerian monarch. He has served as the traditional ruler, or Ooni, of the Yoruba kingdom of Ile-Ife since 2015.
