March 20, 2020 — According to the latest research from Strategy Analytics, global smartphone shipments tumbled 38 per cent year-on-year in the month of February 2020. It was the biggest fall ever in the history of the worldwide smartphone market.

Linda Sui, Director at Strategy Analytics, said, “Global smartphone shipments tumbled a huge 38 per cent annually from 99.2 million units in the month of February 2019, to 61.8 million in February 2020. Smartphone demand collapsed in Asia last month, due to the Covid-19 outbreak, and this dragged down shipments across the world. Some Asian factories were unable to manufacture smartphones, while many consumers were unable or unwilling to visit retail stores and buy new devices.”

Neil Mawston, Executive Director at Strategy Analytics, added, “February 2020 saw the biggest fall ever in the history of the worldwide smartphone market. Supply and demand of smartphones plunged in China, slumped across Asia, and slowed in the rest of the world. It is a period the smartphone industry will want to forget.”

Yiwen Wu, the Senior Analyst at Strategy Analytics, added, “Despite tentative signs of recovery in China, we expect global smartphone shipments overall to remain weak throughout March 2020. The coronavirus scare has spread to Europe, North America and elsewhere, and hundreds of millions of affluent consumers are in lockdown, unable or unwilling to shop for new devices. The smartphone industry will have to work harder than ever to lift sales in the coming weeks, such as online flash sales or generous discounts on bundling with hot products like smartwatches.”

Once users set their personal goals within the app, such as walking 5,000 steps a day, reducing snack consumption, and establishing a meditation and/or sleep routine etc., the coaching functionality starts to monitor and encourage the users to achieve their goals.

Chubb LifeBalance tracks and records over 115 different activities—including yoga, swimming, boxing, and meditation, and lets users invite their friends and family to join challenges and compete in these activities together. It connects with a full range of health devices and other apps such as Fitbit, Strava and Garmin.

Based on over 2,500 clinical papers and years of clinical data collected from over 300 million people, reputable teams from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) USA participated in building a credible health score system behind the app so that users can effectively monitor their overall health and well-being.

The health points, based on activities and goal achievements set on the app, can be exchanged for mobile vouchers at various coffee shops, gas stations, and grocery stores to enjoy varied benefits. These are only available as exclusive incentives to existing Chubb customers.

Edward Ler, Country President of Chubb's general insurance business in Korea said, "Chubb LifeBalance was created to offer more advanced and personalized health and well-being services for the customers in Korea who lead busy lifestyles. We believe Chubb LifeBalance will help our customers strive towards a sustainable and balanced lifestyle."

The app is currently available on the Google Play Store and Apple App Store.
