The 2020 Financial Markets Half-Year Activity Report is a presentation of activities undertaken by the Department to implement the Bank’s monetary policy measures. It details the span of activities in the money, fixed income and foreign exchange markets to support the policies of the Bank.
The Report is organised into seven Chapters. Chapter one provides an overview of the global economy and the Nigerian financial market operations, while Chapter two discusses the operations in the domestic money market.
Chapter three focuses on developments in the foreign exchange market and Chapter four is on the capital market. The Federal Government domestic debt activities are as presented in Chapter five; stakeholder collaborations and related committee activities are detailed in Chapter six; Major developments in the Nigerian financial markets are contained in Chapter seven.
The Appendix contains the list of guidelines and circulars issued in the first half of 2020 for regulatory purposes.
I commend the extraordinary efforts of the staff of the Department for their continued hard work, dedication to duty and commitment to delivering the mandate of the Bank, especially during the COVID19 crisis.
