The filmmaking competition, administered by Dalberg, was launched on 14 October 2021 in partnership with Netflix and Unesco.

In addition to receiving $25,000 each, the six finalists in the competition will be trained by highly regarded industry experts, and will be provided with a $75,000 production budget to create short films that will premiere on Netflix in 2022 as an ‘Anthology of African folktales’.
